A super easy cake loved by children: here is Chocolate Salami!

Yes, a super easy cake that everyone asks me, absolutely a protagonist in many of our family Cooking Classes in Tuscany. So easy that children can make it with no problem, even if they’re 5 years old.

This tasteful cake doesn’t ask for baking or another kind of cooking: just put it in the fridge and wait 2 hours about.

I could not write the recipe here on the blog, because it is simple like all the things that I love and, in its simplicity, holds the secret of deliciousness.

Super easy cake Story:

This cake was born after the Second World War here in Tuscany.

When American soldiers came in the Tuscan countryside, they met the Tuscan housewives which often prepared meals with poor and few ingredients from the country. The American soldiers had some military biscuits and cocoa and the Italian housewives had the butter (from their cows), the sugar and the egg… From this meeting was born the super easy cake Chocolate Salami!

Chocolate Salami

Ingredients

2,82 oz (80gr) dry biscuits (Petite or Saiwa)
7 tbsp (100gr) of butter
3 oz (80gr) sugar
4 tbsp (30gr) bitter cocoa

Instructions

Melt the butter
Put the cookies inside a paper bag and break up the biscuits with the punch (or a rolling pin) until reaching the size of about 1 cm2.
In a bowl, with the help of a whip, cream the butter with the sugar. Then add the cocoa, which must be poured gradually from top to bottom.
Obtained a dark brown cream, we can add, if we like, 1 tablespoon of rum or milk, stirring constantly.
Now, you can pour the crushed biscuits into the bowl with this mixture. Not all in one time, but in 3 times, incorporating each time the cookies it into the mixture. With the help of a wooden tablespoon, it will be easy to mix everything.
Pour this mixture on a baking sheet and close it by giving the shape of a roll (salami).

Put this package inside another sheet of foil and roll up all the pressing and stretching the sausage until the end of the foil.
Put this delicious “Salami” in the fridge for at least 2 hours; then cut it into slices (an inch thick) with a long knife.
