Monday morning I woke up early, I took the car and I headed down to Florence. In fact I started a new journey: a course to qualify as a professional chef. Will be several lectures with theoretical contents, but above all practicals, dedicated to people already experienced in cooking. We are a dozen and they are almost all men and youth. Well, needless to say I felt like a fish out of water, a bit cause of fear and excitement, a bit for the environment that was not my own.
But then, as happens in all the positive experiences, lived together with young people, the walls fell down and laughter took place of emotion and fear. Many people ask me what we experienced. And so, here is the day at the Italian Chef Academy: in the morning lecture and bread-making in Tuscany: sandwiches with olives, olive oil, milk, with the sesame seeds, poppy seeds, Tuscan bread, focaccia, etc…In the afternoon we worked in a real restaurant, to obtain: flans, puddings, casseroles and souffles. Everyone has cooked his own, but it’s a pity that many were late and so they left them in the oven without tasting.
My girls appreciated them and took them to school as a snack 🙂 I put it in the freezer most of them and maybe I’ll pull out for Christmas.
In the evening, during my way back home, I was really tired and with swollen feet. But I had a strange smile on my mouth, a mix of happiness and satisfaction.
No matter what’s your age, the important thing is to never stop having projects to improve ourselves and our lives, do not you think so?
